Myxopapillary Ependymoma Containing Atypical Histopathological Cellular Features: A Case Report

BACKGROUND: Myxopapillary ependymomas are rare tumors typically located in the cauda equina and arising from monotonous fibrillary glial cells.
CASE REPORT: A 17-year-old male was admitted to our hospital with a complaint of lumbar and right leg pain. We found an intradural mass at L4–L5. The histopathological examination revealed a myxopapillary ependymoma with atypical cellular features.
CONCLUSIONS: In our case, there was myxopapillary ependymoma with atypical cellular features. This case is presented because this situation could lead to diagnostic problems.
