BACKGROUND:
Perioperative hypoxemia is a common clinical phenomenon, which brings many adverse consequences.
CASE REPORT:
Here, we describe the case of a 62-year-old female patient who presented with a tumor (2.0×2.0 cm2) in the right axilla. After the surgery, the patient was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) because of severe hypoxemia (SpO2 60%).
CONCLUSIONS:
A CT scan suggested bilateral atelectasis associated with mechanical ventilation.
